adding weather applet

I have downloaded and extracted the cinnamom weather app via settings but in the extracted file there is no install.sh file. I followed the following video and still no install file http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/17, Not sure why? Very new to linux so still working it all out

officerx 09-17-2013 05:43 AM

Which distro is it?

Dazhann 09-17-2013 01:05 PM

Mint 13

officerx 09-17-2013 02:06 PM

Why don't you download using software manager that way it will automatically install its self

Dazhann 09-17-2013 04:04 PM

I'll try that when i get home tonight thanks

officerx 09-17-2013 04:34 PM

ok let me know how it goes

Dazhann 09-18-2013 12:33 AM

Its not in the softwear manager to install

officerx 09-18-2013 02:04 AM

In that case I think you should have a look at this link http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=135494 seems like you not the only one with this problem

Dazhann 09-18-2013 02:25 AM

Thanks for your help but they have already been able to install the waether applet, I can't as the install.sh file isn't in the folder when I unzip it.Not sure why its not there

officerx 09-18-2013 04:22 AM

I think its because of it is one part on a whole program that's why it doesn't have install.h file. Download whole package open software manager and search and download screenlets am sure you'll find the weather aplet in the. If it doesn't work ill have to load my mint distro to find a solution for you.

still waiting

Did screenlets work?

Firerat 09-18-2013 03:49 PM

http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/17
download button
( currently http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com...-JPAG-F1QX.zip )

assuming JKCM-JPAG-F1QX.zip is saved to ~/Downloads

Code:

pushd ~/.local/share/cinnamon/applets
 unzip ~/Downloads/JKCM-JPAG-F1QX.zip
popd

now rightclick panel --> add applet to panel
You should see the weather applet
highlight, and add to panel (button )

get your WOEID ( as per the spices page )
configure applet ( right click in the "add applet to panel" menu, or the applet itself )

Above confirmed at my end, cinnamon 1.9.1 ( git compile on Debian Jessie/sid )
your mileage may vary.

the default , un-configured applet looks like the attachment

if you don't see it , try restarting cinnamon

either rightclick panel --> troubleshooting --> restart cinnamon

or

Alt+F2 --> r --> <enter>

Restarting made no difference no applet. Tried unchecking and re adding but nothing
