adding users
Alright, this is an easy one but my computer knowledge at this point is between 0 and .0005. I am running ubuntu 8.04. How do I add another user besides myself?

From the cli or terminal console as root;

Be sure to add the user to the proper groups.

adding a user on Ubuntu
Why run for the shell? There is a graphical method that Windows users will, no doubt, be more comfortable with, ie, Addusers on the drop down menu that leads you through this process. My apologies if this is what you meant.

Menu method easier
Fred is right that going via System >Administration >Users gives you the easiest way to add to new users (Remember, they are not automatically given 'sudo' privileges!)

However, if you want to do it the 'proper' way, open a terminal and type
man adduser
This will give you all the details you need.
adduser is a root command so you'll have to type sudo before using it!

Best of luck.
