Adding user with KUser

I'm trying to add an account, using KUser, for my wife. However, when I start adding her, say with a UID of 1001, KUser automatically assigns her to a group which is also her name. I want her to be in the 'users' group, just as I am.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

You are not doing anything wrong. Some distros create a private group for each user which is the same as their username. You can use change the groups etc, by using the usermod command.

There are a couple of ways to change what group a user is in.

usermod -G users username

gpasswd -a username users
These two commands will accomplish the same thing.
You can also use kuser to modify a user's groups. Unless you're using kde 3.4. Kuser has issues modifying accounts in 3.4. It's ok creating users...just not modifying.
