adding to main menu.. like start on windows


hi, ive installed firefox on my linux box.. and i would like to put it into my menu under internet bet everytime i try to add it i get an error pop up, so i thought maybe coz im not as root so i signed in as root and tried it and it still didnt work. can anyone help me please?

If you are using KDE, try, as root, the following:

update-menus

It helps if you fill in your profile so it shows which distro you are using.

Anyway, welcome to LQ.

It will help to tell us which window manager you're using. KDE, Gnome, Fluxbox,Xfce, etc

In addition to tredegar's post, KDE also has the menu editor under the Utilities menu. It's a graphical "tree" view of your menu. You can add an entry anywhere you want it.

thanks for the tips guys n help, i just installed fedora core to and what ever the default is which i think is gnome, i just installed a gtk theme so that b gnome yes? ill sort my profile out now cheers for that.

im new to the world of linux so any tips and stuff mucly appreciated. ive bin ready an ebook about linux a sams teach urself but i think its abit old.. lol.however its bin useful in helpin get to grips with the terminal and stuff.

really starting to like it already
