? Adding Source to SuSE 8.2 Personal Edition
 

Hello Fellow Newbies, I have posted this to the distribution forum but this might be a better place.

I bought SuSE 8.2 Personal edition and have got it installed dual boot on my Toshiba T9100 Laptop with Windows XP and I now want to move all my activities over to Linux over time. Power managemnet isn't working which is a bit of a show stopper for when I am travelling but that aside all is well.

Anyway, my issue is that the SuSE personal edition doesn't include source and though I can see where I can download the whole distribution, all the docs I can find are focused on a full install and I just want to ADD source to my installation.

Any one got any idea how I might do this ?

I need the source to install some VPN software I use for work.

What do you mean by "the source" - it's not a generic thing, you need the source TO something

I mean the source of the operating system, the VPN software comes in source code form and seems to want to install itself in the Linux source code tree.

Maybe I am talking rubbish here, I was told you got the complete source code with all linux distributions as a matter of course.

Hiya I might be wrong but on an older version of SuSE I found the source rpms on the higher numbered CDs (it was Pro though)... If it's not on the Personal CD's (maybe an incentive for people to buy the Pro for convenience) it should be on the suse site somewhere. The open source has to be available but not necessarily on the same media.
