Wink Adding drivers to installation USB on Debian Jessie

Hi everybody

I am currently using Debian 8 on my laptop and decided to now install it on my desktop. I prepare a USB drive using the dd command and boot into the Debian installation. However this time the installation says missing firmware "rtl8168d-1.fw"

My question is, can i download this firmware and put it on the USB such a the "root" of it and run the installation again, or add the driver to the installation if you will?

Unfortunately the machine is currently not with me and I need to prepare a USB drive in advance so unfortunately I cannot just do it and see if it works.

Your feedback would be appreciated. Thank you

Official CD images do not include non-free firmware. The most common method to load such firmware is from some removable medium such as a USB stick. Alternatively, unofficial CD builds containing non-free firmware can be found at To prepare a USB stick (or other medium like a hard drive partition, or floppy disk), the firmware files or packages must be placed in either the root directory or a directory named /firmware of the file system on the medium. The recommended file system to use is FAT as that is most certain to be supported during the early stages of the installation.
