Adding a Printer
I would like to add a printer. I have used the system tool (under KDE Administration->Printing) but this has not worked.
I have two printers one local and attached to the serial port the other on another Linux box running Fedora 5. It seems that my local linux bos (a laptop with Fedora 5) does not recognize the serial port and tries to install the printer on the parallel port. When I try to install the printer on the other Linux box, I supply the name of the machine (should I supply the IP address) but when trying to print the test page the log file shows that I do not have permission to print even though on the other machine I allow sharing from my laptop's IP address. Any suggestions? |
did you set up your printer yet?
i allways set my printers up with cups but you can choose the one you prefer make sure cups is runing then in your browser type: http://localhost:631 and set it up |
I had the same problem, and I was given those directions. However, on the same menu where you see the grayed out "Add a printer", at the bottom right there should be a drop down box, and you can select CUPS from there. Then you're good to go
If you don't find it exactly where I said, it should be right around there, I'm out of town, so I'm having to go off of my memory, which isn't that great lol |
***After you select cups, "Add a Printer" SHOULD be ungrayed
