Adding a package so rpm can find it


How can I make rpm see a package that is there but it cant see it (i.e. installed from source)?

AFAIK, you can't. That's where src.rpm's come in handy... I think that the only way to deal with it if to use --nodeps when you believe everything else is definietly covered.

if you can't find the rpm for what you want...use checkinstall to install the tar.gz. that will create an rpm for you and install it. then when you want to remove it, you can use the rpm -e
