Adding a host to /etc/hosts
 

I always get an error message when i boot linux. i can't recall axactly what it says except that it suggests adding a host to the file /etc/hosts. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Have you looked at this file? It looks like:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

or similar
