Adding a directory to an existing user path

I want to add a new directory to my .bash_profile.

It already has PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin
How do I add another one without changing this one ?
Whats the syntax ?

Change that line to:
export PATH="$PATH:$HOME/bin:/your/additional/path"
