Added new printers, but they do not show up un Mozilla or other applications
I just installed 2 network printers (from SMB Windows shares) on my Fedora Core 2 machine. I used the print manager that is placed on the panel at the very bottom. When browsing the Internet with Mozilla (the default browser), all I get when I go to print is a Postscript/Print to file option, but no printers.

Anybody know how I can get printers recognized by Mozilla?

try this, with the browser open, go to file>print, at that window choose printer, then select the properties option. in this window you should see a line for command, or print command. on that line put your print command, whatever it is. i.e. kprinter, lpr, etc.
good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that did not work. Know of a way of adding printers to the dropdown menu when going into File->Print ???

I had the same problem. I wanted to be able to easily switch between a b/w and a color printer. Anyway, I ended up creating a file called:

// User preferences
user_pref("print.printer_list", "default color");

I then restarted mozilla, I was able to select the color printer, set the print command and defaults for the color printer. It even remembered my settings after I restarted it a second time. There are more tips on user.js at:

hope this helps,
