added a CD-R ... now can't enable multi-LUN support

I had my multi card reader working fine ... then my new Plextor CD-R drive came in the mail and I installed it. I got the Plextor working fine, but now I am unable to get the last three slots on the card reader working. I've tried to enable multi LUN support in the same manner I had done it before; however, it doesn't seem to "take."

first I issue a
Code:

modprobe usb-storage
next I do:

Code:

cdrecord-scanbus
to determine the scsi controller number, then I do a
Code:

echo "scsi add-single-device 1 0 0 1" > /proc/scsi/scsi
echo "scsi add-single-device 1 0 0 2" > /proc/scsi/scsi
echo "scsi add-single-device 1 0 0 3" > /proc/scsi/scsi

but when I do a
Code:

cat /proc/scsi/scsi
all I get is
Code:

Attached devices:
Host scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: PLEXTOR  Model:  CD-R  PX-W5224A  Rev:  1.01
Type: CD-ROM                            ANSI SCSI revision:  02
Host scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: OEI-USB  Model: MMC/SD                  Rev:  1.06
  Type:  Direct-Access                    ANSI-SCSI revision:  02

I've tried booting with the card reader unplugged, then plugging it in, watching in var/log/messages as it is detected, and then doing the above, as well as having the card reader plugged in at boot time and doing the above manually or putting the above in the rc.local file to do it at boot time. None of those three methods has worked. (Also tried it when it was listed as scsi0 a couple of times, too.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?
Thanks in advance for your time....
