add Ubuntu to the grub of PCLinuxOS

I have Windows XP installed on the internal IDE drive alone, and then I put Ubuntu 7.10 onto my external SATA hard drive. I then reduced the windows main C partition and installed the newest PCLinuxOS next to XP in newly created partitions on that internal hard drive, and it did make a new GRUB boot menu, but did not include the Ubuntu on the list. Since I did print out the original /boot/grub/menu.lst file from Ubuntu, how can I add the correct line of boot information for Ubuntu 7.10, so that I can select to boot up either Linux from either the internal or the external drives?

Just copy and paste the ubuntu item from the original menu.lst to the end of the new one. Order doesn't matter, XP or Ubuntu first, but you should leave PCLinux at the top.

If your Ubuntu installation still has a GRUB menu.lst in its /boot/grub dir., you can chain to it using the GRUB configfile command, see the GRUB Manual: 13.3.6 configfile

solved

I fixed this issue by copy and paste the exact Ubuntu lines from menu.lst, to the other Linux grub menu.lst file, (PCLinuxOS) onto the bottom, and I had to remove excess spaces too, thanks for the help.
