actived window titlebar contrast not enough to notice the difference

Arch based linux, Plasma.

How to make my active window more noticeable ?
I like "Breeze light" theme , but somehow the title bar is not much contrast then that of inactive windows.

Q1.
After much searching. I found this could the solution to the problem. But i can't see the different, should i reboot to see the effect ?
I changed the color of "Active Titlebar" to a deeper blue, hoping when it is on focus, it will become a lot contrast to those inactive windows.
But, no matter how i clicked "Save" and "Apply", i can't notice any changes to window titlebar. should i restart pc for that ?

Q2:
Please tell me what are those "orange color dots" on the "system settings" > "Appearance" "colors" & "Cursors" .. Why some have the "orange dot" some does not have it ?

Window Management/Window Behavior/TitleBar Actions
For colors:
Appearance (Global theme), Colors, hover mouse over current selected theme and click the pensil at bottom right to edit colors.

Yes...Plasma had an upgrade earlier this week or last week, now at version 5.21. The new application launcher I believe is called Kickstart, OpenMandriva has been using this launcher for a while, I may be wrong but I think they designed this launcher.

Look thru TitleBar Actions, but none is related to highlight focused window.

Appearance also nothing related.

Unless your Window Manager is broken you should have these 3 things:

(1) visual indication of which window is in focus (the remote window hacker in UK has on you?)

(2) a choice of whether your mouse raise focus when hovering over a window without raising the window

(3) a choice that demands keys go only to a window that is raised and that a window is raised only when grabbed

these are just basics. if you don't have them you may have a broken installation or a bogus WM.

now as for someone talking above about "tranparent look through options", there is no standard although your current WM may have some hack. i didn't see that you asked that question.

I HAVE THIS ISSUE, tried freeBSD. mouse kept disappearing totally in XFCE4, sometimes re-appeared touching certain menus, but later disappeared again with use.

And FIREFOX: broken as well. When I highling on the freeBSD forum the background color is so close to white i cannot see what i highlighted (this might be tech terrorism on the part of an ubuntu manager in freeBSD culture or by google - who started up on a stolen company Altavist, government money, and then attacked linux. there is allot of terrorism these days: and fake news. and no one to ask to prosecute.)

I disagree you should "look through Titlebar options"

If you can't see what window is focused and you just installed: you haved a hacked WM. You will fix that and then endlessly find other things broken.

When you upgrade: things will be different - some things fixed other things re-broken. Tickets: some hack cultures are given "pay" for fixing ticktes. It's an insidious system.

I'm trying to say (lacking brevity): there is no such thing as any WM released that doesn't show you which window your keystrokes will go into.

In other words: it's broken. It's not an option to fix it. It should never ever have been not working.

Yes, this is what i need. but I don't have it on my current system. I have 2 screens, when i move mouse to top screen, and later move to the lower screen (i have multiple windows opened on lower screen).. sometime i just lost track which window is now on focus, because there is no "special indicator" telling me which is on focus.. i have to manually click it and when clicked on it; it changes the previous working location... i have to jump to it with keyboard; such a waste of time. It is the recent "pacman -Syu" that robbed that from my system.

Also have that.. just don't understand the application of it.
"when hovering over a window without raising the window" ?? Why would anyone one to raise window where my mouse hover over ??! Don't know what application is that.

My system does hav this feature, just that i have no idea what that means.. what does it means anyway ? what does it do ? I simply can't get what that means !

I don't need transparent look through feature.. not essential.
Ya, you are right about domestic terrorism. So many.. fake vaccine, fake news, even gonna have digital passport to proof that you have the bogus vaccine (maybe it is trojan horse of bill gate, when in future, he releases some thing into your drinking water , those ppl who have the vaccine will no longer have children anymore... that;'s call "life hack" and "population control". Only smart ppl have got the right to give birth, dump ppl [like me...;p] don't get to have children)...

No, i don't want a "look thru title bar".. it must by typo error or my brain shorted the time i posted the above msg.
I just want my title bar of the focused windows to be outstanding than the rest of the windows.. so that i can easily identify which windows is now on focus; since i have got multiple screens with multiple windows on each.

Yes, mine is.. my vim terminal shows same color or "almost" same color when focused.. i can't hardly see the different when the lighting is not right.. such a indication might well be nothing.

How about System Settings > Workspace Behavior > Desktop Effects > Dim Inactive (Darken inactive windows)?

That should give you a very clear indication of the active window.

Yes, that is one way. Where is the normal way of focused window indicator ? the one that when the window is on focus; the title bar become deep blue, and when not on focus, it is grayish color.. where is that indicator ? how come after the update it is removed ? Why they have to change our setting when we do an update ? why can't they just leave our setting alone..

It sounds like you might have been using the Plastik theme for window directions, but for some reason you aren't anymore.

Go to System Settings > Appearance > Window Decorations and try switching to the Plastik theme.

Plasma recently updated to a new version, from 5.20 to 5.21. Things can change between version updates. I don't know why your window theme changed (there was no such change on my systems), but KDE tends to change quite a bit from time to time. Sometimes themes will be broken during a major upgrade (for example, when KDE updated from Plasma 4 to Plasma 5, the theme I was using was no longer working and I had to change to another one).

If you can't handle dealing with changes, running KDE on an Arch-based distro is a curious choice, IMO. KDE is under constant development, and an Arch-based distro will push those changes to you basically as they are released.

I never use Plastik theme before.
Now that you mentioned it, i tried the theme for a few seconds and discard it.. the reason why plastik theme is bad (IMO) is that the contrast of text and icons on title bar just not see able.. the contrast just not there, i can't see anything on the title bar apart from deep blue titlebar.. so strain my eyes to read the text on title bar.

Hence choose back to breeze light. I just wish there is way for me to customize color of title bar of breeze light, so that it can be stronger when the window is actived than inactive windows.

I think KDE plasma is highly configurable, but it is hard to use for me, maybe because i don't where to search for what. Maybe it is not called title bar on KDE, maybe it is not called "active / inactive window".. who know.

I have browsed thru the whole system setting again, tested out all adjustment (just to see what they do - description is poor, can't understand what they do).. notice a lot of them doesn't shows any difference when changed.. too many ( under "desktop effect").

I tried everything from bottom up, until i reach "colors" again (somehow i mixed up this with "windows decorations").. And by just select the first "Breeze", the whole thing changed. That's what i want.
Now my active window title bar is "highlighted", i can see the contrast between active window and inactive windows..

BTW, i also tried to create a ".colors" file under "~/.local/share/color-schemes" but, not working..

I cannot see in the images you provided evidence of being solved.

I just did a very minmalist Plasma installation on openSUSE tumbleweed. I was able get readily distinguishable titlebars by installing various Oxygen packages:
  • gtk2-engine-oxygen-1.4.6-5.10.x86_64
  • gtk2-theme-oxygen-1.4.6-5.10.x86_64
  • oxygen5-5.21.0-1.1.x86_64
  • oxygen5-decoration-5.21.0-1.1.x86_64
  • oxygen5-icon-theme-5.79.0-1.1.noarch
  • oxygen5-sounds-5.21.0-1.1.noarch
  • oxygen5-style-5.21.0-1.1.x86_64
Then wherever in systemsettings I found an option to choose Oxygen, I did except in one place. Which of the oxygen packages I actually needed I can't say, but because the install was so minimal, I did not have icons where needed more than I did. One other change was choosing Plastik for window decorations.

HTH
