Activating network services
Hey,
I have SUSE 11.1 on a new dual core build. The internet will happen when the "activating network services" is done. It last for varying lengths of time, usually 5 minutes, then disappears. I've been tweaking many of the network settings and feel, that's right, feel as if there is a looping 'check' to see if all the penguins are lined up properly. The bridge has a 'No hwinfo' message. The IPv6 was enabled and disabled. The eth0, IP & DHCP are recognized. The 'ifconfig' shows signs of life. I'm new to Linux and enjoy playing around with it. I'm lost, but making good time. Going in cicles, RDH |
i don't know SUSE too well, but if you're losing the net your lease might be expiring. Hopefulyl this file is there... can you give me the result of
$cat /etc/dhcp.conf (or something like that) |
Thanks chef,
It's not an expiration issue. I looked in /etc/dhcp.config and nothing. $cat ?? What is this? RDH |
Oh, $ is the representation of the bash shell (so where you input the command cat, it would look something like this: user@mylaptop$ cat blah/blah)
Are you saying that the file doesn't exist? Or that it is empty? On a side note, are you using ethernet or wireless? |
