ACPI=off during installation

Hai all,

Tried installing RHEL ES 4.0 and failed with the following

PCI PROBING HARDWARE..

so I suggested to add ACPI=OFF and PCI=NOMMCONF..
and the installation went fine.. and when I booted the machine, I got this error

no IRQ entries,using default mptable

Then I tried to remove the line ACPI=OFF from the booting from :

IT IS LIKE

root (hd1,o)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-42-EL smp ro root=LABEL=/ acpi=off rhgb
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.9-42.Elsmp.img

I changed the above line to

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-42-EL smp ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb

and it boots and stops in UNCOMPRESSING LINUX

Anything else I have to change ?

I have windows XP Installed in the same machine in one more hardisk

Thanks
Yusuf

Well, on some machines I just had to disable acpi - that's it. Perhaps you have the same "problem"? But even with acpi disabled everything was fine for me.

So, to be honest, I have no clue how you could solve that problem, if you want to solve it, but you could anyway try as well with the options..
acpi=on
acpi=force
...and see what happens, or?
