Aconadi won't go away

I am running Slackware 13.37 and using XFCE window manager. I was perusing the applications under Development and clicked "Akonadi Console" to see what it was about. Unfortunately, I now have no info on this and its logo/gif stuck in my toolbar and am not able to purge it. Can someone help??

if you don't need it you can remove the package (as root)
removepkg akonadi

I also run Slackware 13.37 and XFCE (just to get away from dumb stuff like Akonadi).
I have uninstalled the package, reinstalled it because other things will break, uninstalled it again, and then lost track.
One of those obnoxious KDE packages can be uninstalled, and another must be installed but can be disabled (and I cannot remember right now which is which).
I am on the wrong system to check.
I think it was something along the lines mentioned with StartServe=False.
Someplace deep in the system control pages where I unchecked a box so that it could not startup.

Akonadi runs in the background. Some of these icons will go away if you can stop the thing.
If right click does not give you the right menu, it is in the system controls.

I think you hit it "selfprogrammed", because I had an emergency shutdown after posting and on booting up the icon was gone. I presume the hard shut down killed the background job.
I was unaware it was running in the background.
I too don't need it and always build my Slackware with everything except the print setting stuff. Sounds like a necessary dependency.
Think it is solve.
