Question Acer ZG5 Firefox Won't start

I have been given an Acer 1 ZG5, All I know about it is that It's running Linux with Gnome on top.
The Issue I have is that it will not start the Browser (Firefox).
If I click the Browser icon on the screenm the cursor shows the spinning ball, then nothing.
I try and kick it off again and I get a message to say a browser is already running, shutdown program or restart to continue.

Just tried it again, with Right Click and selecting Run and now I've got Failed to Start default web browser. Input/Output Error.

It's been 15 years since I last used Linux in anger and we didn't have all this WYSIWYG stuff way back, so any pointers would be appreciated.

BTY
Network both wired and wireless, fine, no issues at all, all in all everything else looks fine, just the Browser is the issue.

if it is a Acer it might be "limpus light" that is the operating system
if so install a better operation system ( mint or ubuntu ) "limpus light" is the #1 worst distro in the world

but it also might be a different OS on the laptop so..

as to firefox

what did you do before it stopped working ?
install anything ?

open a terminal and start it from the command line
Code:
firefox
then post the error massage

also ? a question why this

with Right Click and selecting Run

The Firefox not starting issue can either be caused by Firefos 2 (as used by Linpus Lite) still being open when the System suddenly looses power, or being turned off from the power button.

Firefox 2's Lock files are still in place so Firefox won't open, and you may get the message "Firefox is still running".

Or the new GoogleToolbar extension that seems to be coming with a system update.

The GoogleToolbar issue that has been popping up lately stops Firefox 2 opening on Linpus Lite and appears to be an incompatibility between the new GoogleToolbar extension and Firefox 2 (as used in Linpus Lite)... A fix for both this and the lock file issues can be found here:
http://linuxforums.org.uk/netbooks/a...ser-wont-open/
(I must point out however, the GoogleToolbar issue only seems to affect SOME Linpus Lite users and not others)

If you are running Linpus Lite, and the Network Centre won't open and/or the Network Manager icon is missing, and/or it won't accept your wireless password (key) after a system update... see here:
http://linuxforums.org.uk/netbooks/a...ter-wont-open/

hth.
