Accidently imaged only part of LUKS drive while unencrypted

I accidentally imaged the drive while it was unlocked and I only imaged the luks partition (Ie. only the luks part of the drive and not the unlocked part of the drive), now when restored I cannot mount the drive - "wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock". Is this salvageable? I now realize I should've locked the drive first and imaged the whole drive. drive was imaged using disks utility.

I've tried imaging to a separate drive, losetup, mount, mounting the image, etc., everything comes up with errors. When I unlock the drive I can open the drive, (input password) but any attempts to mount it will result in errors. I've even tried to DD the unlocked partition to another drive, no luck.

Is this in any way salvageable?

Thanks.

I've now tried using ddrescue to recover the drive, but no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My Recommendations:
Change your username to ---> HELPluks

Have you tried booting the Live version of your Distro (I'll assume Ubuntu) in rescue mode see if there are auto boot repair options? check file system type stuff?
Also, it is possible should you restore the image whilst the settings are in the same state as when the image was taken (while it was unlocked), set the stage exactly as it was when the image was taken, might work.
