Accidently deleted the wastebin, now no "bin icon
Hi,
Just a small problem here... i was as root user and accidently deleted the Wastebin folder in mandrake linux 10... i made a new Wastebin folder and it works fine, its just that the icon is now of a folder, not of the bin. i go to preferences but i cant change the icon. Little help? I would greatly appreciate it :D |
I only have old stuff here atm but it works.
Try putting a file ".directory" into the trashcan put this stuff in it: Code:
[Desktop Entry] |
Hmmmm. That was silly huh?
Make a file named .directory in the trash bin. Then paste all this crap in it. Code:
[Desktop Entry] I did this once too. :tisk: Later :D :D :D |

This is simple to solve, you just need to make a copy of roots wastebin and copy it to home user.
Open a console type:- su enter root password. Then type :- konqueror You`ll then get konqueror running as root. Navigate to /root/Desktop and copy trash.desktop (edit/copy) Navigate to /home/username/Desktop and paste trash.desktop (edit/paste) You`ll now how a fully working Wastebin with correct icons Mike |
He/She may need to change the permissions too. That would make it have root privledges and only root would be able to delete the contents, and maybe put anything in it. Right click and change it to the correct pemissions for that user. This may help:
Code:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 dale users 4795 Jul 2 16:21 trash.desktop :D :D :D :D |
