Accessing CD drive on boot

OK I dont know my way round linux so please be patient.

My system - Pie Box (RHEL AS) will not boot, it only displays a black screen and cursor.

I believe I need to install my graphics card drivers - it is a Nvidia 6800 GT. I have got the drivers on a CD, but how do I access them from the shell??

I was under the impression the CD is in /mnt directory- but I couldnt find it there?

Please could someone help

So you just get a command prompt after you have logged in ??

What linux distro/version are you using ? (redhat7.3/slackware9 etc........)

(If you need to use the cd you will need to mount the drive)

Distro: Red Hat Enterprise AS (rebadged)

I can get to the command line using the Rescue option, when I boot up with the install disc.

What command do I use to mount the CD drive?

do you see any kind of bootloader ??.

Have you taken the install media out of your CDrom drive before restarting your computer.

are there any messages/text after the normal bios post screen has been displayed ?
