Accessing and writing to Windows partitions
 

Hello. I'm running Mandrake 9.2 with 3 HDs. I'm able to see, but cannot write to, the other 2 discs or my Windows partition (All NTFS). Is there anyway I could do this while in Linux? I tried logging in as root but it still wouldn't let me.

I dont think you can write to NTFS yet

A good get around may be to partitian one of your NTFS drives, format it as FAT32, and use that as the share between your Windows Machine and your linux machine.

There is *limited* write support for NTFS in the newer kernels. But it's still developmental, so unlesss you don't mind losing data, then don't use it. Reformatting as FAT32 would be the best option

alternatively, u can use the explore2fs program on windows. It allows Windows to recognize linux partitions (Ext2 and Ext3 supported) and allows u to copy files from these back to ur NTFS partition.
