Access XP share from FC4

Hello guys. I'm a brand new Linux newbie. I am sure I'll have lots of questions in the future, but for now I just have one.

I put FC4 on my second machine. I still run XP Pro on the main PC. I do have the Samba utils installed to FC4 but am unsure of how to access my XP share from Linux. If I go to FILE / CONNECT TO SERVER from any of the open folder windows, I can specify WINDOWS SHARE and put in the proper server name, then the share name, (no folder for me in this case), and the username.

FWIW I have created the same username/pw on my Linux machine as I have on XP, but apparantly this isn't enough. When I click on the newly created icon, it thinks for a minute and then I get an error that says "Sorry, you can't access some of the contents of SERVERNAME" or something to that effect. Makes me believe it can see the share, but just not authenticate.

Is there something I am missing, or do I need to do something now to my XP machine as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Next maybe I'll ask how I find (or change) my Linux PC's machine name and where I also find its local IP address. But for now I'll settle for just having access to my files!

What happens if you try these commands:
smbclient //servername/share -U <username>
smbclient -L servername -U <username>

Since yesterday I was able to consult with my local *nix guru and he helped me modify my HOSTS file to include the IP and name of the Windows machine. Since I did that, I am able to connect to my other machine and access all the shares just fine.

Apparantly, since I didn't have it in my HOSTS file, it did not know where to look for COMPUTERNAME and was unable to connect.
