Access Denied message when trying to login

[username@xxxxxx01 ~]$

I can login to the Red Hat machine, but get message as marked in red after I enter only the username. Was wondering why it comes up even before I enter the password.
I think the ssh config is looking for password and since it does not get it, I am getting this error. Did not find any proof of this though.. So still clueless.

you might be getting that when you are using windows putty to login to the server. It is because of putty. Try to login from one linux server to another linux server without using putty you shouldn't get that error.

Yes this seems to be the issue. Any reason for it to happen with Putty?
