ac97 Audio-card no sound on debian,need help.
 
ac97 Audio-card no sound on debian,need help.

i just have installed debian3 with 2.4.25 kernel.but my audio-card doesn't
sounds with is on motherboard sl-85mir3(soltek).
in user's manual of motherboard it says:

---------------------------------

i have used command 'modconf' to add
drives/sound->ac97 ac97_codec ac97...?? to kernel.
and download mpg123 to test my sound config.
but it says 'can not open sound device'
i uses aumix,it says : no aumix??(or someword like this).

i found that thereis no folder named 'sound' under /dev/
i think my sound device file (like /etc/hda1 /etc/psaux..)does not exists.

who can help me?please show me step by step in detail.thanks you.

make sure you've got rights on /dev/dsp or /dev/mixer or whatever your sound device is. If it isn't found , recompile your kernel with necessary support.
