absolute noob red hat 9 how do i connect to the net ??
 
like i said im an absolute noob to linux i have red hat 9 and i dont know how to connect to the net... how do i go about setting it up for a dial up connection

From the Start menu in X, try System Settings > Network. Press "Add" to add a new modem connection.

i have added a modem but i dont know where to go from there.

If you are using kde then you'll find a good howto here and also here but if you are trying from the command line then the command is pppconfig (at least in Debian it is). You need to armed with details from your isp such as their phone # and your login name and password and you will probably have to configure it to use chap/pap authentication.

yeah im using gnome and i work for the isp so i got all i need and more heheh but yeah if anyone knows where i can go to get the info for gnome that would be great thanx
