About "mbox"
 
Dear Friends ,

I want to know about "mbox" . Sometimes i found a command in my Redhat Linux Machine :

"mail saved into root 'mbox'"

Here i want to know what is "mbox" ? and where it situates ?

your mbox should be located either in /var or home directory. Don't remember off the top of my head, but try looking around those places for starters.

mbox is a generic term for a family of related file formats used for holding collections of electronic mail messages. All messages in an mbox mailbox are concatenated and stored in a single file. For a while, the mbox format was popular because text processing tools can be readily used on the plain text files used to store the e-mail messages. There is one advantage in using mbox...searching is fast...you can find it under /var/spool or /root/ (for root user).
