about ALSA plugin

Hi,it's my first question
I was wondering to konw, does ALSA plugin work in kernel-mode or usr-mode?

The introduction in ALSA wiki, there is an example, says that
aplay--> myplugdev (plugin named "plug" converts rate) --> default --> hw:0,0

the blue part handle by ALSA driver in kernel-mode,but I am not sure about the red part.
really appreciated your help,thanks!

Well i think the red text is 'calling' the virtual device 'my plugdev'.

My understanding is that the ALSA plugin is kind of the translater between the kernel mode and the user mode so you could say that its in both.

I hope I'm helping if nothing else to get some interest going on this thread to get it answered
(just trying to do my bit for the ZRD)
