able to connect to internal network but not external

I have a board running on Linux 2.6.10.I am able to ping internal IP,but not external IP for eg: google(209.85.231.174).I have another server on my local network which is able to do so.so I had copied the contents of /etc/resolv.conf to mine.I am able to ping my gateway IP.
