Abiword overwrote my document

Help! I associated .abw files with AbiWord in Konqueror (I'm using KDE mostly) and when I opened a file with it, by clicking on it in konqueror, Abiword instead created a new empty file with the same name that overwrote my old one. It didn't make any kind of backup either. Is there any magical way to recover my paper? I had 4 pages done.

By now it depends on how much youve used your machine. MC (cmmandline shell Midnight Commander) has an "undelete" option (recent versions), but it only works on ext2fs. Its in the middle drop-down menu. Else you need recover (recover.sourceforge.net). Give it the first-last delete times, feed the approximate filesize and itll throw out a bunch of inodes for you to check with file, grep, tct utils or hexedit.

Next time activate autosave/backup with another extension :-]
