I had an extended partition with three logical fat32 partitions at the end of my drive, roughly 10 , 30 and 70 gigs. I deleted the 10 and 30 gig partitions, in preparation for adding linux filesystem partitions in that space. Now the 70 gig partition(which is almost full of stuff) seems to have been re-assigned/moved from the end of the drive to the drive to the begining of where the extended partition was.

What do I do to avoid data loss?

I backed up some stuff and rebooted, the partition appears intact. Looks like the partitioning utlity just showed its location wrong.
