A simple router question.
Ok. I have a Conexant router I got from Dabs, and I'm trying to configure Linux to use it. Currently, by some whim of mine, I'm using Mandrake 9.1 which works nicely with the router. However, I'm hoping to move to Gentoo soon, but I haven't managed to get that all-important Internet connection. I run net-setup from the live-cd, and enter the IP address of the NIC as 10.0.0.5, the broadcast address as 10.255.255.255, the subnetmask as 255.0.0.0 and the gateway as 10.0.0.2 (the router). Should this work or am I missing something? I apologise for the messiness of this post, but it's late. I also use Ed's Debian on my Xbox, and it works with the router too. I suspect I'm missing a step. Help?
