a place for daily linux tips?
 

hello all you LXers,
I did a little googling today trying to find a site or mailing list for daily linux tips, but i didn't find what I was looking for. Does anybody know of a website or mailing list that posts linux tips/tricks on a daily (or more often) basis?

If you are using Ubuntu they should have a mailing list.Or if you use gnome get on their mailing list etc. Just depends what you are interested in,lots of options

I'm looking for helps/tips/tricks/useful tidbits. I'm sure there is alot of useful Linux functionality that I wouldn't even think to look for in a forum or google.

Because most distro's are set up a little different most tip & tricks are written for that distro.There are 32 pages of good stuff here for gentoo.Then it depends what you like to do, like eye candy or server stuff etc.There is just so much out there. What do you want to learn. There is python or php, the list goes on and on;

If you're a bit more experienced you can often read other distro's tricks and tips too and filter out what you can use on your distro. I would like such a site too. It's easier to check new things out if there's such a thing. Otherwise I only learn new stuff when something breaks, I nee dto answer a question or if I suddenly think "wow having this would be cool"

I have a php-nuke site here that could be used for something like that.Let me know what you think. I don't use it for anything. I just installed it to learn how.

I don't know of a site that does that, but if you visit LQ regularly, you can try answering peoples qns. Even if you can't figure out the answer, just trying often teaches you new info as you research.

I agree, that is the best advice you could possibly give newcomers to Linux. From forums like LQ you get a real world view of the ins and outs of linux, the good and bad in real time. Even a daily tips page is passive. Reading peoples real problems and solutions is probably the best way to Learn Linux. I can't see a more Newspaper like up-to-date format then this. Minus the Obituaries, of course!
