a media player please
Oh well I used Linux for a couple o weeks few months back and left it coz I couldnt find a jukebox or any player that will manage my music files (and play WMA). So if there is something I overlooked please tell me. Also I couldnt get the mPlayer GUI to work without crashing each time.
I also plan to completely switch to Slack next fortnight and well.........can I not partition my HDD like i do in windows...I mean will I be limited to 4 partitions only? |
Posting the error messages you get when attempting to run an app will enable folks to help you better. You probably didn't get mplayer configured correctly.
You can have more than 4 partitions if you make one of the partitions an extended partition that can hold a bunch of logical partitions. # Partitioning Linux Partition HOWTO Rute - Partitions, File Systems, Formatting, Mounting Proper Filesystem Layout |
As far as the media player goes, go to www.mplayerhq.hu and grab MPlayer. Also download all of the codecs and you'll be able to play everything.
I believe they also have rpms on the site to make installation for rpm distros easier. |
I use xmms for the music playing (it's got plugins for wma, easy to get for mandrake at least) and prokyon3 to manage the music database. xmms rocks but I'll probably move away from prokyon once I've found something better to generate playlists. But so far, it does the job
