It could be possible to install Slamd64 and Vector's special administrative package for a somewhat 64 bit version of Vector. But I still think that it would be a better idea to run 32 bit emulation for right now.

indeed, for failsafe usage use 32bit.
most binary, wich means precompiled, (if you want to use that anyway) packages out there are compiled using 32bit instructions, this will conflict on 64Bit libs./dependencies most times (i speak out of experience). |
Yeah, I know someone that runs an extremely hacked version of SLS in 64 bit and cannot use precompiled binaries of any kind. Can't use ATI OpenGL because of that.

welcome to the linux community :) i also moved onto linux a month back ... same here sick of crashing windows and dead slow operation ! For the which distro to use there are very good distros out there but personaly i find suse to be the best for beginners . others are also very good but i think they are bit more technical ... overwhelming for a windows migrant. best of luck ... ! ankit |
