a few errors while installing java


hey i got a few errors whil trying to install it

i was following these instructions
granneman.com/techinfo/linux/installsoftware/installjava.htm

and i take it, the install didnt work? can anyone point out what i did wrong?

Are you installing as root? If so, it seems your missing some libraries that are necessary. you probably need to install the compat-libstdc++ packages for backwards compatibility.

i did su in the terminal to start off with, so i had root permissions, must i log in as root?

i just installed the libstdc libraries i could find on rpmdrake
