A few colors are wrong.

Dear All,

A few colors show up in lavenders and taupes in error; the rest are fine. This problem just showed up a few days ago; before that, for months, all has been well. It affects pictures, video, the sunflower on my login screen, etc. It occurs in both GNOME and KDE. I cannot think of anything that I've done differently as of late, although I've left my computer running 24/7 recently and screen savers have been popping up. I've tried restarting the computer, to no avail.

Any ideas?

- Ben

Three possibilities come to mind.
1) the video card has a chip in the process of failing. I don't know how to check that. If you have utilities supplied with the card, you might put them through their paces to see wihat turns up.
2) monitor setup. If your moditor has control buttons on it, see if any of them give you the ability to do color correction.
3) a chip in the monitor circuitry is in the process of failing.

Dear Bigrigdriver,

It was #2, thank goodness. Perhaps a cat rubbed against it. Thank you for answering this decidedly un-linux problem.
