a distro which has Nvidia drivers
hi,
thank you for reading my question, Now I use Linux but I have some problems with my Nvidia graphics card driver.and this is what I have experienced for a week I have installed Mint 14 Cinnamon. It used to work fine but it bit slow when I tried to write sth.I dont why it shows a few second later what I wrote.I tried to update my Nvidia driver, even though I have tried many methods I couldnt succeed.I updated my kernel and virtualbox and now I can see a icon on menu called "nvidia x server setting" but it warns that I dont use nvidia setting as a default ..and cinnamon desktop has disappeared and so I am kinda giving up btw I tried out mint xfce.it works faster I dont have keyword or writin problem. but what I am looking for is a distro which had nvidia drivers installed already. I tried out PClinuxOS..this distro has a simple desktop e. but too many programs. It regonised my Nvidia card but when I tried to watch a hd video ,it shut down like my windows 7.so I tried to try out xfce version but this time it never set up and said there is sth wrong with my x server desktop .. I tried fedaro 18 gnome .it works faster then ubuntu unity even though they seems to use the same desktop environment.. 1.my question is what makes a distro lighter ? desktop environment or ubuntu/debian choice? I just want to run a distro which has professional/polished look and only basic programs .I dont need video editing or programming programs and it should be installed nvidia drivers? or it should be easy to install a program/driver.. 2.if we use the same desktop which one use less resource of ym laptop, distros based debian or distros based ubuntu? thanks sorry if my question doesnt make a sense and for my english |
You can choose debian. Though, as far as I know, no distro comes with pre-installed nvidia driver, but after installation of OS, you can install the driver.
