Question _using_ the Internet on RH 6

Hello. I'm having some problems using my internet. I have just installed linux, and I can connect to the Internet (dial-up ), but when I run, for example, Netscape, it doesn't work. It says something about some environment variables I need to do.
How can I make my connection work?
