8.10 xubuntu hangs

Seems to be related to use of Firefox 3.0.13. I usually have at least 4 tabs open, click on something, then no response. Get hourglass, cursor unresponsive. Also running Synaptic Package Manager and one terminal session in addition to the system monitor. Is this a problem with XFCE? Something else? Anybody else seeing this problem? Current solution is to reboot and start again Would you readers recommend that on this 512MB, 2.0 GHz machine that I upgrade to the 9.04 version of ubuntu? |
My personal experience (now mind you it was mine) was that I had lots of problems with 8.10. 8.04 and 9.04 both ran fine for me. So I would say yes do the upgrade and see if that helps. you can also get a good look at memory by using the command
