64 bit + kernel 2.6.11 + slackware 10.1

Ok, I've heard slackware 10.1 doesn't support 64 bit. If I recompile to kernel 2.6.11 using the AMD 64 processor type in the .config file, doesn't that make the sytem now 64 bit? Or is there something else I'm not considering. Just a little confused? J

No, it just means that the kernel will be compiled with the 64 bit extensions. All of the libraries and the rest of the userland won't be affected in any way.
