Question 3dfx voodoo 3 3000 driver problem in enemy territory


Hi....

I am as new to linux as its possible. I have installed the slackware 9.1 with gnome..
This works fine and only after 6 hours i was able to get into the "startx" thingy..(problem with the screen..running at 300x2** something)

Then i installed the enemy territory linux 2.56 installer and that went great, but i cant get it to work??..........

This shows up and im back in the shell.....

I have a 3dfx voodoo 3 3000 card and i know that much that its this its something wrong with...
Do i miss any drivers??..i use the one (3dfx generic) thats comes with slackware..

If anyone knows please take it slow..I am an EXTREME

Wanna switch to linux and i got many friends who said that if i where going to start with linux...this was the place to go...

Thanks for any help on this..

It looks your graphic card is running in VGA mode. You need to change it. The right file is /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Search for 'Section "Device"'. Then there should be a line beginning with "Driver". You probably have 'Driver "vga"' or something similar. Change it to 'Driver "tdfx"'. Then scroll back to the begining of the file and make sure you have 'Load "glx"' with other "Load" commands.

Enemy territory errors are because of not found acceleration. The things mentioned above should give you better resolutions and acceleration.

In that folder i have : XF86Config, XF86Config-fbdev and XF86Config-vesa...

Is it one of those??
I think im running the tdfx driver, but im not sure though

OK..now i have deleted all the config files in the x11 folder and made a new one with xf86config..

Still the same problem ..
edited the file..first section of the "device" says vga card and vga driver, but further down the page it says "voodoo" driver "tdfx"
I even tried to edit the "vga" to "tdfx"
Anything wrong here??

Still same errrors like the first post
