3dconexxion drivers

I have a 3d conexxion space mouse pro and just switched to ubuntu 16.04 64 bit. Now i managed to install the provided linux drivers with the .sh install file but it keeps giving me errors. right now when i try to start it up as told in the installation instructions it says:
/etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv: symbol lookup error: /etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv: undefined symbol: xmFormWidgetClass

Please help me. I managed to solve a few other errors by this forum and google but now i have no idea.
Thanks

Have you tried contacting 3dconnexion support through http://www.3dconnexion.com/?

P.S. Note the spelling of connexion - it will help you with any web searches.

What are you trying to use it for? In some cases drivers may not be needed.

3dconexion hemselves may well be the best bet to ask then. I did start a thread some time ago asking if anyone else here used a Space Navigator and didn't find anybody else who did. I have also used Second Life quite a bit in the past and, again, not found anybody else using a Space Navigator (despite it working well there without drivers).
I recently found that I can no longer use mine with Google Earth on my machines -- I think due to the change to systemd but I'm not completely sure.
Sadly, these cool devices seem to have been ignored by everyone, possibly due to their high cost, so there's very little that they can be used for especially under Linux.
