I use the Speedtouch 330 modem with Mandrake 10.1 Community, for which the connection only takes about 11 seconds. My connection method seems to be slightly different to yours. I use the method described at
http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/Spe...ake/index.html (my connection is PPPoA, using CHAPS). The Mandrake Control Center didn't work for me, so I had to use the lengthy route. My /etc/init.d/dial file is
#!/bin/bash
/usr/sbin/modem_run -k -f /usr/share/speedtouch/mgmt.o
sleep 15
/usr/sbin/pppd call speedtch
I think the && in the example dial file on the website shoudn't be there. The sleep command is required to allow modem_run to finish executing (which takes 11 seconds in my case) before starting pppd, otherwise the connection fails.
