Unhappy 2wire router/modem help

Please help me connect my wireless laptop to my wireless router which is a 2wire 1701HG Gateway. The laptop is a Compaq NX5000 wireless built in. Runing on Redhat Fedora 8 Can't seem to find any info for this need.
Thanks

Have you done a search using your 2Wire model number and your operating system, and laptop mfg & model?

The newer 2Wire models come with the wireless on and with a WEP already assigned, but better to use WPA encryption.

You should be a bit more specific with your request, such as Linux version, laptop mfg & model, and if you are using an PCMIA adapter or if the laptop has it built in.
