2 video cards and 3 monitors
Hi,
I am running 2 video cards, (1 radeon HD 4200 on MBO hooked to a 72" TV with 1360x768 (16:9) resolution via HDMI cable and the second card is a radeon 4350/4550 connected to a 52" TV with 1360x768 (16:9) resolution via VGA cable as well as a 20" monitor with a 1280x720 (16:9) resolution via a DVI cable.
Sometimes this setup works great, but then other days it gets all flaky on me. As in, the 20" monitor might be overlapping one of the TV's, or the 20" monitor is not even showing up.
Another problem might be when I turn the computer on, the GUI DISPLAY screen may show the 52" tv on top of the 20" monitor, covering it up and it will not allow me to "move" the 52" TV to the side, so that I can scroll my mouse from one monitor to another one.
Does anyone have any ideas why I can not get this system to "remember" the settings once I shut the computer down for the night?
I am using Mint 18, with Ubuntu 16.4
Thanks for any suggestions.

Your setup with 2 gpus usually doesn't work at all unless the mobo is designed for more than one gpu at a time. You might be able to use a AMD utility to configure the displays. I'm not sure exactly which utility, because I use nVidia.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look around for an AMD/NIX/GPU utility and see what I can find, because my only other alternative might be to change out the video card for one that will handle 4 monitors, including at least one or two HDMI.
The strange part is I can get all the monitors working great, until I shut the machine down. But it's getting to the point I have to reset them every day, after I boot back up.
They all came up this morning, but every time I move my mouse, two of them start to flicker and scramble the image, plus one of them literally has a double image, as in one image is inside the other one, yet they were working perfect last night when I shut them down.

I "may" have resolved my problem, but I am not exactly how.
I ended up using the "display" settings on Linux Mint to "play around with the" the resolutions on all three monitors/TV's, and for the last two days, it has maintained the settings without any problems, but as I said, I am not sure why it is working now, because the current settings are exactly as they were when I first made this post. Anyway, as long as it keeps holding the settings, I will not change anything.
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Setting hard values for the screen resolutions might have cleared up the problem, if the system was trying and failing to set them each bootup. I'll have to remember that one. Please report back in a few days if you can.
