2 part question: Speeding up MDK9.1/GNOME question

In KDE I use the KPPP dialer to connect to the net. But where and how could I get a Dialer like KPPP in the GNOME desktop?

I want to switch from KDE to GNOME because KDE really slows Mandy down. Someone mentioned that I had to uninstall X and get turn off the New Hardware Detection thing. How could I do those?? And whats "X" mean?

You have to get and install kppp in order to use it with GNOME. Try urpmi kppp as root or download it manually from http://freshmeat.net/projects/kppp/

There are also other dial programs, you can try http://web.oneonline.it/daste/ if you want an alternate.

I have it already on KDE. I installed it from CD#3.

Should I just go into GNOME and install it from the same CD?

type kppp as root in your console, it should open kppp in gnome.

Ok. I will do that in GNOME. And is there a way to switch to Gnome without having to restart?

its already installed on your system, you dont have to reinstall it in gnome. what do u exactly mean by switching to gnome? if you have both kde and gnome, logout and log back in gnome.

one point I wanna make clear is that you have 1 system, if u have something "in kde", it is in "gnome" as well

Everything is all set.

But one problem, look at my Firefox Problem thread.
