wave cd burn: filenames as tracknames?

hola - finding my way through linux is SO much easier with lq -- much thanks to everyone :)

here's something i've been getting stuck with.. perhaps a real stupid question but here goes...

i've been trying to burning wav files on cds with both k3b and gnometoaster --- why is it that the filenames dont get copied and on the cd the files appear only as cd track1,..2, etc? i would like the tracks to automatically get written with their existing filenames .. how do i do this?

also, k3b default write mode is set to auto. it picks dao and fails to burn. if i then manually change it to tao, it works, but then i cant enter any cdtext.

how to fix this?

This appears to be a problem with the CD format in general. DAO is not supported on all writers, and TAO doesn't combine with cdtexts very well.

As for your other problem, there are two different possibilities as for what you want:

1: an audio cd. This will work on car/stereo cd players, but does not support writing track names.
2: a data cd. This allows for naming each track, but can only be used by computers and some rather advanced CD players.

For option 2, try mastering an .iso containing the .wav files, then burning the .iso.
