2 Fast questions about Linux

1) I was looking to try out Slackware... but when I went on distrowatch.com to look for it, my browswer started acting weird, and I couldnt find a download center for the life of me...

Anyone have a site that its easy to get from...?
Do they send out a live CD?

2) Is there any distro out right now that you can plug and use a Linksys WUSB54G v4 wireless adapter with? (Natively has the driver)

1) Yes, slackware does not make it easy for you to download because they want you to preview how difficult Slackware is to setup. HAha - I kid, I kid.

2) I have the WUSB54G Rev. 1 wireless and it will work fine with almost all the distros using the 2.6 kernel. Generally you should stick with Intel and Linksys for wireless cards.

How do I know if the distro is using the 2.6 kernel?

The Distrowatch Slackware link.
The Slackware Slackware link.

No doubt you had troubles with your "browswer" because you were using a flaky Linux "browswer" instead of an enterprise level Windows "browswer" to view an "open sores" website. Well, I am joking around but I have been able to view Distrowatch in both Linux and Windows and never had any sort of problems whatsoever and wonder why this is a big enough "point" to be point one in your post.

Perhaps we want to hear from everyone else who has issues with the Distrowatch website. This sounds like an issue that should be looked into.

That's right, the first 2.6(.21.5) based Slackware release is ready for download!

...live CD?
That's not the Slackware spirit.
Slackware is an old distribution and though
its tech has kept up nothing has.

It deliberately inflicts the hard ships
of mid eighties Unix operating systems
inline with the survival of the fittest
ideal. Beware.

The 'SlackwareŽ 12.0' cd1 is a bootable disk. If you want a GUI livecd then look at 'Slax 5.1.8' <- LiveCD.

You could look at;

SlackwareŽ 12.0 <- Distrowatch.com SlackwareŽ section

SlackwareŽ 12 iso <- Install cdrom/dvd iso, plus don't forget the md5 & asc files

SlackwareŽ Home <- SlackwareŽ Linux Project

Get Slack <- SlackwareŽ Linux Project Referenced mirrors

You shouldn't have a problem with the 'WUSB54G'.

You only need the install cd1 & cd2 for a install. If you want KDEi (KDE international) then cd3 will be needed. You could download the DVD and have it all.

These links and others are available from 'Slackware-Links' .

Alright man, its browser...
Smart ass all you want, no need to attack the typos...

Back to the Linux though, My main concern is my Linksys...
I have it running on some shaky ground with Ubuntu, and I want to try out a couple more OS'es

So I really just want to plug the adapter in and it....work....

Actually I was not "attacking" your spelling but I was questioning why the "cannot use Distrowatch" thing.
You are able to find a Slackware download link now?

It is funny you say this because Slackware was my first experience with a live CD. Before I had heard of Knoppix.

But AFAIK the Slackware live CD is included only with a boxed set. Is that incorrect?

Great! onebuck has solved your question one.
Slackware 12.0 is the best Slackware yet and there is a new version coming soon.

I will drop any questions about why it was important to say your browser started acting weird and you were unable to find a download center without mentioning what browser you were using on what operating system and how long you had had this issue since finding a link to a Slackware download is what is really important to you.

Good Luck.
