2 days of utter frustration trying to have java plugins seen by Firefox9

I think by now Iǘe read everythoing on the topic. The installation itself was uneventful, but setting up the symbolic link did not go well for me. The link is absolutely right but Firefox does not recognise it. Is there some file I can edit to make that link work instead, or some other workaround? It does say when ckecking with a file manager that the links ar broken, but they are also correct - how?

Please provide a link to the instructions you followed in trying to get the plugin working, and also please show the exact command you used to make the symbolic link.

You could also try copying the plugin executable(s) to ~/user/.mozilla/plugins instead of making a symbolic link.

I didn use the executables because every set of instructions said not to, it said it would likely cause the browser to crash. I followed the last set of instructions from:
http://www.if-not-true-then-false.co...-red-hat-rhel/ - all their other instructions have been very helpful

this is the appended section in pluginreg.dat

[INVALID]
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so:$
0:$
/home/aletteke/.mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so:$
0:$
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so:$
0:$

Iǘe removed any older instances of links and lib*.so of the java variety.

previous to this set of instruction I followed every instruction from Oracle to the letter. I am baffled, it is probably something really dumb, but I am exasperated, and see the forest for the trees. now I have to give reinstalling the Nvidia driver and figure out how to turn the Nouveau server off.

It was something really dumb, a missplaced . (dot).(period) I mistook the first "dot" for a period so did not copy that part of the code which then made it is broken link, once I found that out I redid the code hit enter et voila a symbolic link and it all worked.
